It's been too long....

I know its been awhile, and I'm sorry for all for 6 followers. I have been working on getting our company Visual Urge, Inc. setup for the new year, and who knows what else.  I do have a few, quick announcements to make:

1.) "Half Empty" has been getting a lot of interest from distributors of a late, and one has actually sent over an agreement, so it will be interesting to see how that pans out

2.) A short film, "The Buck Johnson Story" that I produced with Scheli Boley of Rogue Kite Production, written, directed, and funded by Blake McCray, starring Cullen Moss got accepted into the L.A. Comedy Shorts Festival in downtown Los Angeles!! The festival is put on by Will Ferrell and the rest of the Funny or Die crew, and has some judges including Mark Hamill, Dave Koechner, Michael Jai White, Aisha Taylor, and many more.  I will be flying out to LA on the 17th of April just in  time to kick some ASS at the celebrity beer pong tourney. Buck will screen at noon the 18th @ the Downtown Independent Theatre.

Anyways, its way too nice of a day for me to be sitting here writing this, or for you to be sitting here reading this. Let's go out, enjoy the sunshine, and celebrate sweet baby Jesus.

Talk to ya'll real soon,

Quick Update on a busy couple of weeks from NYC to RDU to the ILM

The "Half Empty" trip to New York was awesome,  We were presented with $2000 and The Grand Prize of the AFTV Fest. Yesterday, we also got the nod from the Bare Bones Internation Independent Film Festival. We plan on taking over the city of Muskogee, OK and showing them how we like to party. If anyone knows anyone in Oklahoma or surrounding states let them know not to miss this one!!   I'm going find a bar and throw a promotional party with a liquor sponsor and Troy, Marcus, and myself are going to go represent. I think that we are a good fit for the INDIE AUTEUR OF THE YEAR AWARD. This is given to the feature filmmaker who demonstrates the best entrepreneurial spirit for getting their project made By Any Means Necessary (BAMN) in terms of positions on and off the set and the most efficient budget.  Anyone who worked or helped with the film knows that BAMN is how we do it!

I attended the Cucalorus Oscar Party At Screengems last night. Thanks to everyone who put this event on, it was great.  Bo Webb let me play one of the paparazzi at the event, in exchange for admission. Great event, can't wait 'til next year.

In other news my commercial for Lowe's with Jimmy Johnson is currently doing a test run in the (704) area code, all my CLT peeps look out for me on your TV, especially during the race!! The budget for "Equal Verdicts" is now in the hands of the investor, and hopefully we will begin preproduction and shoot this summer.  Keep your fingers crossed.
I played some Bball with Marcus Mizelle today, he one the 1st game 11-9 (mainly b/c he was fresh of a lesson with my  baller/neighbour Brad.  I came backed and smoked 11-5 the next game! Headed to The Mellow Mushroom to try and win some HOB Tix in a bit.   I also had a wonderful birthday, thank you everyone who really make getting old feel special.

The Women's Tee STARRING ACTORS MATT MCHUGH  and BEN SWILLEY IS @ 235,969 VIEWS,  and has started making some $$ with Google Ads!!

And.......I'm Out!

Half Empty wins GRAND PRIZE and other stuff

Hello again!
Its been a fun week, filled with an award, a concert, a day of filming, an Army Wives audition, fun times, some quality Futbol action, and some good movies!

Once again, its Thursday and I'm bartending at The River Rat.  If you are wondering how the Front St. Improvement is going, come down and have a beer. They are digging up the old pipes right in front of our bar today.  The project seems to moving along, which is good because I'm tired of all these fences n' things in my way when I'm out drinking.  They are supposed done in April, that being only six weeks away I do not think that's going to happen.

"Half Empty" ended up winning the Grand Prize at the AMFT Virtual Movie Festival!! Congratulations Cast/Crew, you all made this happen!  Directors Troy, Marcus, and myself are headed up to New York City to collect our winnings next week.  So far, the film was an official selection at Cucalorus Film Festival in Wilmington, NC,  a recipient of an Award of Merit at The Accolade Competition In La Jolla, CA, and the Grand Prize at AMFT Virtual Movie Fest.  If you are gonna be around New York on the 24th, come check us out!  This is definitely a step in the right direction for our plan on continuing to enter more festivals, and secure distribution.

Our recent golf joke, "The Women's Tee" starring Matt McHugh  and Ben Swilley has become a viral sensation since its posting a couple weeks ago.  Over the past week it has quickly jumped from around 1,000 views to well over 10,000!!!  Thanks to Troy Carlton, Clint Allen, Tony Morin, Ritchie Nannini, Scott Frye, Mateo Arnold, Matt and Ben, Wilmington Municipal Golf Course, and of course that joke site we use.

In addition to being an actor,  Matt McHugh is the tour manager with Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad  on their recent tour.  The tour is with SOJA and John Brown's Body, and it made its way to Wilmington, NC on Valentine's Day.  Thanks to Matt, I was able to get down there early and get the licensing for SOJA's song "Be Aware", that we used in "Half Empty". Thanks again SOJA, you guys rule!  I came back later as a VIP guest of the bands, and had a great time (maybe a little too much).

Monday and Tuesday my computer at the office wasn't working, so I stayed home.  I got to watch some qaulity UEFA matches, do work, and watch some great movies.  The highlight of which was, "Severance" a smart Horror/Comedy that I loved!  Clint and I have continued working on a budget/plan for "Equal Verdicts", and have a conference call tomorrow to discuss script revisions, etc.  Wednesday, I went out my agent's office for an audition. I will hopefully be playing the part of Sgt. Douglas Fletcher.  I think it went well, but ya' never know.  I then headed to Mott's Channel Seafood in Wrightsville Beach, NC to shoot an intro for a new comedy cooking show called "Swede and The Pope of Pasta".

Swede, The Pope, Troy Carlton, Scott Frye, and others have given me the honor of being the Finder of all things random and funny.  When they want something random or funny, I get it.  For this intro, they needed hot, lesbian ingredient girls, and some docks to film on.  Thanks to Megan Leigh Henry, Cheyenne Carson and Gene at Mott's Seafood they got just what they were looking for.  It was a great shoot with a fun group of people, and I'm happy to be a part of it.  I cant wait to see it!

Hey you should become my fan on Facebook to check out my Acting photos, videos and updates. Do it (Please?)!!!  My Lowe's commercial with Jimmy Johnson is airing somewhere starting March 1st, so look for me on your TV.

Until next time, keep it really, real Jobens!

Hello from The River Rat Hole in the Wall

It is Thursday, which means I'm currently working the bar at 1 S. Front St.
Today was a good day.

I got up around ten, made some coffee and oatmeal, and went to the office. Clint, Carol Anne, and I at Visual Urge, Inc. have been working on creating a budget/breakdown of a script based on a terrifying, true story that took place in Philadelphia, PA. I'm really excited about this project, and its potential. We have begun the process of shooting/maintaining a video blog for Baker & Slaughter Law Firm. Tomorrow's plan is a few meetings, some more figuring, and our weekly wrapup.

I got a call midday from a Mike Smith with America Free Film Festival. He said that "Half Empty" was more than likely going to win the best in show award from the festival. They said that they had over 40 entries, and they like ours the best by far. Unfortunately, we won't know for sure 'til Monday, but he wanted to call so we could get our "travel worked out". With the official announcement, Troy and I have decided that we will fly up to Chelsea for the Feb 24th awards ceremony/screening. The winner gets a check for $2,000! I hope its one of those big ones. Hopefully, some of the other cast/crew will be able to join us up there because I'm sure we'll have a goodtime!

In other news, I was covering a shift on Tuesday and was part of an ALE sting operation. Luckily, for me and the bar I carded the girl and didn't serve her. Door guys be on the lookout, you don't want your bartenders and bars to get fined, or lose your job. Apparently, they will be out and about tonight. The article is listed here:

Today

I cannot believe the fool i made of myself at an audition for Southern Gothic Productions. It was retarded! I didn't have my headshot, resume, or 1 minute comedic monologue prepared. I literally showed my ass! Ha!
